A high-level overview leading into what digital assets are, how crypto is different from traditional markets, and how digital assets are risky.

We establish the foundation. We'll be covering key terminology and critical aspects of blockchain technology that will serve us as we continue diving deeper.

We compare digital assets to traditional markets. We'll be covering a high-level summary of what makes digital assets unique including a comparison to fiat currency, stocks, and keeping track of digital assets.

We look at some of the risks of digital assets. We'll be covering some risk considerations of digital assets under categories I’ve assigned as well as a high-level comparison of traditional markets vs the crypto markets.

A high-level overview leading into defining a goal, utilizing tools to conduct research, and learning more about CEX, DEX, Wallets, and banking aspects.

We look at some possible goals and solutions. Defining a specific goal is unique to each person and can be beneficial when entering the space of digital assets. This is something each person has to decide for themselves.

We explore tools we can use for conducting research. We’ll cover on a summary level some important aspects when conducting research. A further deep-dive on research is covered in the subsequent research module.

We look at important considerations regarding CEX’s, DEX’s, Wallets, and Banks. We’ll cover bridging the gap between traditional finance and the digital asset space as well as aspects of wallets and important banking considerations.

A high-level overview leading into the introduction of blockchains, understanding sectors / categories & narratives, and tokenomic aspects of crypto projects.

We cover blockchains in more detail including Layer 1’s and Layer 2’s. We’ll cover how Bitcoin works, the robust nature of blockchain integrity, value ecosystems, and also Ethereum (Layer 1) and Ethereum Layer 2 scaling solutions.

We look at some examples of crypto categories and narratives. Understanding how categories and narratives impact research is important as it can help narrow focus in the vast space of cryptocurrencies.

We look at important economic aspects of crypto projects. We’ll cover Price, Market Cap, and Supply metrics in addition to token allocations and a price dilution effect example.

A high-level overview leading into setting up a self-custody wallet, placing CEX trades and sending transfers from exchange to wallet, and utilizing a wallet to trade via DEX on-chain.

We do a demonstration of creating a self-custody wallet. Creating a wallet can be straight forward but it’s important to be in a private place, have a secure device & internet connection, and ensure no one can see your screen(s).

We do a demonstration of placing CEX orders and sending assets to self-custody wallets. We’ll cover the process of placing CEX orders, sending test transactions, using block explorers to view on-chain activity, and sending remaining funds.

We do a demonstration of using wallets and decentralized exchanges (DEX’s). We’ll cover obtaining the token contract address, using a wallet to swap crypto-to-crypto trades via a DEX, as well as revoking token spending approvals.

A high-level overview leading into how to use blockchain explorers to view on-chain activity as well as potential software options to keep track of digital assets for tax purposes.

We look at different blockchain explorer tools. Block explorers are helpful to view on-chain activity for research purposes or confirming our own asset movements.

We look at a few software options to help keep track of digital assets. Software can help keep track of cost basis, gains/losses, and tax lot relief methodology. Software can be incredibly helpful during tax time.
